Vintage log cabin: Interstitches

Vintage log cabin quilt, originally uploaded by *Yellow House*.

I don't make puns usually, but I like this one -- sewing in the spaces in between, or maybe sewing together the leftover in-between spaces. Either way, my first choice "In between", was taken already. And it's such a touchstone for me these days, when every day seems to be made from a motley crew of patches and bits. Time for a quilt picture: This one is from my Flickr account, posted just after the quilt was washed and dried. The quilt has lots of patches and repairs; I paid 2 or 3 dollars for it, from the Salvation Army Thrift in Sackville NB. I could see it on the rack through the window as I was walking home for lunch. It's a sunshine-and-shadow log cabin setting, with some odd random log cabin blocks here and there. The binding on the bottom as well as the orange piece on the right side are repairs (not mine, either).
